Dr. Kibue has worked for over 30 years, as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Architecture in the School of Architecture and Building Sciences at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, where she has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses.
She has been a Validation Panellist at the Commonwealth Association of Architects (CAA), and a member of the International Union of Architects., She has taken part in the validation of Architecture courses in various schools of Architecture in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean Islands. She has also been an external examiner at Makerere University in Uganda, Ardhi University in Tanzania, and at the Polytechnic of Namibia.
With co-researchers a Post Occupancy Evaluation study on both formal and informal low-cost housing initiatives in Nairobi was done. This included documentation and supporting informal communities in their initiatives of improving their housing, through engaging university faculty and students in the design process.
Josephine Muchogu is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Landscape Architecture at the School of Architecture and Building Sciences (SABS), Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT). She is the holder of a Bachelor of Architecture Degree and a Master of Urban Design from JKUAT. Her research interests are in the areas of Adequate Housing, Smart Sustainable Cities, Environmental Health, Environmental Policy, User Driven Research and Design and Transdisciplinary Research.
Josephine is passionate about capacity through technical training, and has actively been involved in the development and facilitation of technical training programs for contractors and skilled construction workers on behalf of the National Construction Authority (NCA), the Kenya Federation of Master Builders (KFMB), and the Kenya Initiative for Vocational Education and Training (KeVET). She is a member of the United Kingdom Research and Innovation (UKRI) International Development Peer Review College and the West Indian Ocean Marine Science Association (WIOMSA).
Brenda Maiba is a lecturer at the Department of Architecture in the School of Architecture and
Building Sciences (SABS) at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology (JKUAT). She
holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Urban Design both attained from JKUAT. In the
latter she studied how the Urban Design influences women’s choice of route of movement. She
mentors aspiring architects. She is a registered Architect and Interior Designer in Kenya. She is a
Corporate member of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). She is a researcher engaging in
Slum upgrading, Urbanism and Visual communication.
Mwende is an Architect and a Tutor at JKUAT with a demonstrated history of working in the architecture & planning industry.She is also a Masters student Interested in Sustainable Urban Design and is an advocate for humane design that seeks to promote inclusivity, accessibility and comfort for users which is a key reason why she enjoys working with other like minded researchers at Taji Research.
